In 2027, SSI arrives on the 1st and Social Security retirement/disability/survivors checks follow your birthday: born 1st–10th = second Wednesday; 11th–20th = third Wednesday; 21st–31st = fourth Wednesday. People on the "3rd of the month" legacy schedule get paid Jan 3 — but since it lands on a weekend after a holiday holiday, that first payment goes out Thursday, December 31, 2026.

The Dates That Move in 2027
Three quirks worth circling. First: January's SSI and "3rd of the month" payments land early — New Year's Day falls on Friday, so those deposits go out Thursday, December 31, 2026. Second: SSI shifts back a day in three months because the 1st hits a weekend — May's check arrives April 30 and August's arrives July 30. Third: if you receive both SSI and Social Security, your Social Security portion always comes on the 3rd while SSI stays on the 1st.
